Leadership is not built overnight—it is shaped through experience, service, and an unwavering commitment to people. My professional journey has been deeply rooted in nonprofit organizations, human resources, education, and operations, where I have had the opportunity to lead, support, and develop individuals and teams across multiple roles and environments.
I began my career in nonprofit organizations immediately after completing my undergraduate studies, working in community-based programs that served youth and families. One of the most meaningful aspects of my journey is that I returned to an organization where I was once a participant as a child and teenager. That experience shaped my understanding of purpose-driven leadership and reinforced my belief that people are the heart of every mission-driven organization.
Leadership Through Operations and People Systems
Throughout my career, I have held progressive leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer, HR Generalist, Recruitment and Wellness Manager, Director of Youth Programs, and Development Director. Across each role, a consistent theme emerged: organizations succeed when leadership prioritizes people, clarity, and structure.
As a Chief Operating Officer, I was responsible for strengthening day-to-day operations, implementing performance management systems, supervising diverse teams, and supporting executive leadership in decision-making. Introducing formal performance management practices improved accountability, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness—demonstrating how intentional leadership systems directly impact productivity and culture.
Human Resources as a Strategic Partner
My experience in human resources and recruitment allowed me to see firsthand how critical it is to place the right people in the right roles. From full-cycle recruiting and onboarding to employee relations, compliance, and wellness initiatives, I worked closely with executive leaders to ensure that human capital strategies aligned with organizational goals.
As a Recruitment and Wellness Manager, I led efforts to build strong talent pipelines, improve onboarding experiences, and promote employee well-being. Chairing wellness initiatives and community engagement efforts reinforced the importance of holistic leadership—where employee health, morale, and trust are not secondary but essential to sustainability.
Education, Development, and Workforce Readiness
In addition to HR leadership, I served as an educator teaching employability, job readiness, and soft skills in underserved communities. This role highlighted the importance of leadership development at every level and reinforced my belief that communication, coaching, and mentorship are foundational leadership competencies.
Teaching students workplace readiness while mentoring them academically and personally allowed me to connect leadership theory with real-world impact—preparing individuals not just for jobs, but for long-term success.
Academic Foundation and Leadership Expertise
My professional experience is supported by a strong academic foundation, including:
- A Master’s in Business Administration
- A Master’s in Human Resource Management
- A Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) with an emphasis in Nonprofit Leadership and Management
This combination of academic training and real-world application allows me to approach leadership challenges strategically while remaining grounded in people-centered practices.
Why This Work Matters
Across every role, one truth remains consistent: organizations thrive when leaders communicate clearly, trust their teams, and invest in developing people. When leadership is misaligned, organizations experience disengagement, turnover, and stalled growth. When leadership is intentional, organizations gain clarity, stability, and momentum.
These experiences ultimately led to the creation of ProVet Consulting, where I support nonprofit organizations, mission-driven leaders, and growing teams in strengthening leadership capacity, HR systems, recruitment strategies, and organizational effectiveness.
